QUESTIONS ANSWERED
I have been a professional photojournalist for 30 years. My main
editorial clients today are The Globe And Mail, The Toronto Star,
and Ottawa Magazine. I have several corporate clients.
In the last eight years I have photographed over 200 weddings.
My goal is to photograph 20 to 30 weddings per year.
Because I have a diversified client base I am not under extreme
pressure to book as many weddings as possible. This allows me to
be honest with prospective clients.
I am looking for the people who are looking for me, or more specifically:
my style and approach.
Some couples I meet have no idea of what they want. They have little
knowledge of photography or what to expect. They are looking for
ideas and suggestions.
Others know
exactly what they like and want to know if I can provide it.
Many of the couples I meet fit somewhere between these two categories.
A high percentage
of my clients are either self-employed or work in high tech or creative
fields. Many are knowledgeable amateur photographers with a degree
of visual sophistication.
It is important that there be a “fit” with my wedding
clients. They must feel comfortable with me and I need to believe
I will enjoy the shoot and that meeting or exceeding the couple’s
expectations will result in photography that appeals to me.
