WEDDING PACKAGES

Wedding photography packages are deceptive and result in excessive cost for clients and increased income for the studios and photographers who use this marketing scheme.

I do not offer packages.

If I did I would make earn more money for almost every wedding I photograph.

A package generally involves a contract for time, an album (or albums) and a specific number of photos. Extra photos are then purchased from the photographer. Average cost in Ottawa for a 5X7 print ordered is about $20.

An $1800 contract with an for an average or slightly-upscale couple with about 12 family members, and a bridal party of six to eight and 100 guests can easily result in a final bill of $4000 to $5000 by the time all the extra prints are ordered by the couple, family, friends and bridal party members.

Most people have no idea how many extra photos will be ordered after the wedding.

If you’re having trouble understanding this think of a child in a candy store.

I have met many former brides who could not afford to buy all their wedding
photos from the photographer.

I prefer not to be in the position of meeting with a couple after a wedding and seeing the look on their faces when the true cost of a package contract sinks in.

Some photographers post photos on a website from which friends and family may buy photos.

After shipping, handling and taxes the photos become extremely expensive.

My business plan is based on what I, with my knowledge of photography, would be looking for if was getting married .

My clients receive all their photos for an agreed-upon fee with no hidden extras.
